Anabela Dias

ANABELA DIAS

Anabela graduated in Painting in 1994 and won an Illustration award at the 7th Biennial of Young Creators from Europe and the Mediterranean. Since then, illustrating children's and youth books has been closely tied to her. She worked as an art director at an advertising agency, later becoming a freelancer in the fields of illustration and graphic design. In 2011, she was honored with the National Illustration Award for the book "A Menina de Papel" (The Paper Girl).

ÂNGELA CORREIA

Ângela is a professor at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, where she teaches courses such as Writing and Argumentation Practices, Original Revision, Textual Criticism, and Medieval Literature. Besides being the author of scientific bibliography, she has written two novels: "Enganos" (1997) and "Relógios" (2010). "Guilherme e os Agriões" marks her debut in children's literature.

Ana Rita Malveiro aka ARita

ARITA

Designer and illustrator. She lives in Greater Lisbon but hails from Odeceixe. She has been in contact with illustration since a young age; when she was younger, she used to attend painting classes that her mother frequented. In 2010, she completed her degree in Design at IADE, and in the same year, she started her master's degree in Communication Design at FAUTL (2010-2013). Currently, she works in the field of design and illustration.

CÉSAR MADUREIRA

Researcher and university professor in the field of sociology and public policies, he has had several forays into the world of journalistic travel writing and children's stories over the past 20 years. Currently, he regularly writes for Le Monde Diplomatique (Portuguese version), especially in the domains of culture and politics, being part of the Editorial Board of the journal. Author of the collection "Contos Sonhados em Português" (Dreamed Tales in Portuguese), recommended by the National Reading Plan.

Catarina Correia Marques

CATARINA CORREIA MARQUES

Catarina graduated in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon and completed a postgraduate degree in Children's Books at the Catholic University. In the last year of her course, she discovered the universe of illustration and has been developing various works in this area since then. We usually find her surrounded by letters, and it is said that she likes to go around stamping life!

"A Cidade e a Serra" (The City and the Mountain) is his latest book for children.

MANUELA LEITÃO

Born and raised in Porto, she obtained a degree in Nutritional Sciences. Teaching and content management have occupied most of her professional career; however, as she enjoys many things - from one end of the world to the other - in recent years she has been acquiring training and consolidating experiences in diverse areas such as reading and writing short stories and poetry, storytelling, illustration workshops and manual work with children, photography, and theater.

Margarida Esteves

MARGARIDA ESTEVES

Margarida is an illustrator and designer. She lived and worked in Lisbon, where she studied Multimedia at the Faculty of Fine Arts. Later, she moved to London to study illustration at the Camberwell College of Arts (UAL), and ended up staying. She has been dedicated to numerous illustration projects, mainly illustrated books. Besides illustration, she also enjoys writing, sketching in her sketchbook, and building houses with LEGO. She loves surrounding herself with colorful things and collects children's books and illustrated maps of the places she visits.

Margarida graduated in Visual Design from the Lisbon Institute of Visual Arts, Design and Marketing (IADE) and took courses in storytelling, plastic expression, book marketing, and children's literature. MARIA JOÃO LOPES

When Maria João was a child, when asked what she wanted to be, she would answer a writer and a theater actress. She was pleased to tell the truth and, with that, make adults burst into laughter. She studied Journalism in Coimbra, worked for the newspaper, the radio, the university theater, and even flew to Rome, where she spent her third year of college. Today she is a journalist for PÚBLICO. In 2011, she won the Branquinho da Fonseca Prize. She lives in Lisbon, where, already as an adult, she completed a postgraduate degree in Children's Books at the Catholic University.

MARIA REMÉDIO

Maria Remédio was born in Lisbon, where she first studied Painting and Audiovisuals at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, and later Children's Books at the Catholic University.

She works as a freelancer in the fields of illustration, video, and education. She regularly illustrates for various graphic materials and children's books. She has collaborated on illustration projects for the Museum of Electricity, Pato Lógico, Tcharan, Edições HIHIHI, among others. She illustrated "A rua dos sinais diferentes" (The Street of Different Signs), written by José Fanha (2016), with art direction by Pato Lógico and edited by EMEL. "Tão pequenina, tão grande" (So Little, So Big), written by Maria João Lopes and edited by Máquina de Voar, is her latest illustrated album.

She conceived, with Yara Kono, the exhibition "Perdidos e Achados" (Lost and Found) (Augusto Cabrita Municipal Auditorium, Barreiro, 2020).

She observes the world through her camera, having already produced several documentaries and motion image projects. She collaborates with creators and directors from the theater, dance, and performance areas in making videos for shows.

Since 2006, she has been developing artistic workshops, game tours, and educational projects at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum and since 2008 at the Cinemateca Júnior.

She has created workshops for children in various institutions, festivals, and cultural spaces based on children's books, visual arts, and cinema.

She lives in Lisbon, is married, and has two children and two cats.

MARTA COELHO

Marta has been a screenwriter for television and the internet since 2007. She graduated in Communication Sciences from the Universidade Nova de Lisboa, specializing in Cinema and Television. Writes opinion articles to the Up To Kids® platform since 2015. Published her first children's and young adult book, titled "A Ilha das Quatro Estações" (The Island of Four Seasons) in 2017 and has a daughter.

Marta Monteiro

MARTA MONTEIRO

Marta lives and works in Penafiel, the city where she was born in 1973. After graduating in Fine Arts - Sculpture, she worked as a teacher and trainer for several years. She gave up teaching to dedicate herself to illustration and works with magazines, newspapers, and publishers such as Pato Lógico Edições, New York Times, and Nobrow. Her first illustrated book "Sombras" was published by Pato Lógico Edições in 2013, and in 2014, she received the SOI gold medal for the illustrated series “Little People”.

The long hours spent in the library with her son, amidst farm animals, fantastical creatures, and superheroes, inspired her to write her own stories for children. A self-professed beginner in this endeavor, she took several writing courses in the last two years, including "Writing for Children" with Leonor Tenreiro (Escrever Escrever). "A minha avó tem o mundo na cabeça" (My Grandmother Has the World in Her Head) is her debut book. Inspired by her paternal grandmother, an eternal traveler and a heroine who could fit into many more books, it is a simple tribute to grandmothers.

Soraia Oliveira

SORAIA O.

Soraia was born in 1992 and is originally from Maia. She holds a degree in Graphic Design and a Master's in Illustration and Animation from the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA).

She has participated in various competitions, exhibitions, and several editorial publications. In 2016 and 2018, she was among the 25 finalists of the São João da Madeira International Illustration Meeting. Also in 2018, she illustrated her first book - "Foge, Rato!" (Run, Mouse!). This was followed by the book "História da Carochinha e Outros Contos Populares Portugueses" (Story of Carochinha and Other Portuguese Folk Tales) with the publisher 20|20. In 2019, she received a merit award from the international magazine 3x3 for the project "A Lagoa" (The Lagoon), and in 2021, she won the Lusophone Contest of Trofa in the illustration category. In 2022, she released the books "Seis Lendas com Legenda" (Six Legends with Legend) with the publisher Paleta de Letras and "A minha Avó tem o mundo na cabeça" (My Grandma Has the World in Her Head) with the publisher Máquina de Voar.

Between 2016 and 2021, she dedicated herself to the textile area where she had the opportunity to design for various clothing brands, including Zara and Mango, focusing on the children's audience.

Currently, she lives in Braga and works as an illustrator with different Portuguese publishers, brands, and institutions (Vista Alegre, Braga City Hall, D'aki, Trinta por uma Linha, among others).

She is passionate about plants and through a world full of nature, she explores watercolors and other materials to do what she loves most, illustrating.

SUSANA MARTINS

Susana studied Graphic Design and worked in various periodical publications, both in print and online. Cooking has always been present in her life, but motherhood has made her develop this aspect even more. Cooking with her daughter is one of the things she enjoys the most.

Teresa Cortez

TERESA CORTEZ

Teresa lives and works in Lisbon. She graduated in Painting and completed her master's degree in Multimedia Art at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. She completed a Postgraduate Degree in Illustration at ISEC, Lisbon. Since 2003, she has been illustrating for book covers, magazines, books, posters, and albums. Has collaborated on illustration and animation projects for Discos Pataca, EMI, Universal, Take It Easy, Ink Publishing, 2034, Bayard Jeunesse, Tcharan, and Pato Lógico. In 2011, she was selected for the International Illustrators Exhibition at the Bologna Children's Book Fair. That same year, she received the "Best Portuguese Short Film" award at the Lisbon Animation Festival, Monstra.
